Strengths Academy
Learning Together Strengths Academy offers a scaffolded series of action agendas for students in upper elementary school through high school. Each level begins with a foundational exploration of the student’s unique combination of talents and progresses to a deeper, more practical understanding and application. The final level of each Strengths Academy program prepares students for the next step in their lives: from elementary to middle school; from middle school to high school; and from high school to college or career.
Upper elementary and middle school students begin with Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer®, a talent assessment for youth based on the principles of the highly effective Gallup® CliftonStrengths® assessment for adults. StrengthsExplorer identifies each student’s top three of 10 talents. High school students begin with CliftonStrengths, which highlights each student’s top five of 34 themes. This is the same assessment used by thousands of colleges and businesses, giving students a self-knowledge that can guide them throughout their adult lives.
Whether through StrengthsExplorer or CliftonStrengths, students open the door to their unlimited potential. Through a series of short weekly explorations, they begin to build talents into strengths, create personal strengths portfolios and learn to apply their talents both in their schoolwork and in their relationships with peers.
Strengths Foundation introduces an age appropriate understanding of StrengthsExplorer talents, while encouraging social and emotional growth. The goals are to help upper elementary students identify and share their talents, understand and appreciate the talents of others and build positive peer relationships. Fourth grade students develop a fundamental understanding of talents, while fifth graders begin to apply their talents in planning for the challenges of middle school.
Strengths Direction includes three program levels for middle school students. Lessons focus on exploring and sharing students' StrengthsExplorer talents, understanding and respecting the talents of others, using talents in academic and social settings, and creating a cohesive school community. Students will understand how their talents might support them in building relationships, setting goals, accomplishing difficult tasks and developing empathy.
Strengths Generation includes four program levels that help high school students develop the social, emotional, academic and life skills necessary to be successful in school and beyond. Students apply their unique combinations of CliftonStrengths themes as they practice basic organizational and time management skills, learn to make thoughtful choices and explore college and career pathways. Students create strengths portfolios that give them a positive vision of the future and the tools to achieve it.
